A letter from the founder

Help me keep Open Bohemians going.

Hello. I’m Tom Sawyer, a programmer. I write and contribute to open source software. Open Bohemians brings my strongest work together under one roof, and invites others to do the same.

I’m in a difficult financial position, and my runway is running short. I’m asking for support to continue maintaining these projects and finish bringing new products to release.

The work includes Oyl, a super fast YAML parser and emitter; Memo, a library for portable semantic memory; Jargon, schema-first command line parsing for Crystal and Rust; Merkle CHAMP, persistent maps and sets for Rust; and C0DATA, structured data using ASCII control codes. You can explore the projects to see what you’d be supporting.

If something I’ve built is useful to you—or you’d like to help this work continue—you can make a one-time contribution or become a monthly sponsor through GitHub Sponsors. Contributions help support development, bug fixes, testing, documentation, and releases.

Hire me

I’m also available for paid work: fixes, integrations, and feature requests for these projects, or any other software development project. I’m open to employment opportunities too. Contact me through Tab Computing with what you have in mind, and we can work out the details. Sponsorship supports the ongoing work; paid work is arranged separately.

Other ways to help

If you can’t contribute financially, trying a project, reporting a bug, improving documentation, or sharing the work with someone who could use it helps too.

Thank you for taking a look, and for any support you can offer.
